Northern Technical University Contributes to the Launch of the Green and Digital Education Project to Enhance Employability in Iraq.

Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, President of Northern Technical University, participated in the first meeting of the working group for the project titled “Green and Digital Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for Enhanced Employability in Iraq.” The meeting was organized by UNESCO and funded by the European Union, with the participation of Professor Dr. Haider Abdul Dhahad, Deputy Minister for Scientific Affairs at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, along with several presidents of Iraqi technical universities.
In his remarks, Dr. Haider Abdul Dhahad affirmed that the project aligns with the Ministry’s strategic plans to develop the technical and vocational education sector and enhance its responsiveness to the country’s economic and social development needs. He confirmed the Ministry’s full support for such high-impact initiatives.
Lennart Deridder, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Iraq, highlighted that the adoption of a modern system will significantly strengthen youth skills and improve their employment opportunities. He praised the strong partnership between the Ministry of Higher Education, Iraqi universities, and international organizations involved in the project.
During the meeting, President Al-Attar emphasized that the project represents a major strategic step toward aligning technical and vocational education with global labor market demands, by integrating green concepts and digital transformation into educational programs.
