Northern Technical University Celebrates the International Day for the Combating of Violent Extremism through an awareness-raising event organized by the Media Department and the Psychological Counseling Unit, under the patronage and in the presence of the University President, Prof. Dr. Alyaa Abbas Ali Al-Attar.
The event reaffirmed the University’s pioneering role in promoting the values of tolerance and moderation and in fostering a culture of peaceful coexistence within the academic community and beyond. The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Rami Al-Obaidi, Director of the Department for Combating Extremism in Nineveh Governorate.
The program featured a series of keynote addresses highlighting the crucial role of educational institutions in building youth awareness and strengthening their intellectual resilience. It also included educational lectures addressing the dangers and societal impacts of violent extremism, emphasizing preventive strategies through dialogue language, respect for diversity, and constructive engagement. An exhibition was also organized to underscore the significance of combating violent extremism.
In her remarks, the University President affirmed that Northern Technical University remains committed to implementing awareness programs and intellectual initiatives aimed at preparing a conscious and responsible generation capable of confronting ideological challenges through enlightened thought and sound knowledge. She stressed that extremism can only be countered through education, awareness, and positive openness.
This event forms part of a broader series of activities organized by the University within the framework of its social responsibility and its ongoing commitment to promoting intellectual security and supporting societal stability.
