Northern Technical University continues to consolidate its position as one of the Iraqi academic institutions most committed to the principles of sustainability and environmental governance, through achieving notable progress in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025. The university ranked 304th globally out of 1,547 universities, seventh locally among public universities, and tenth among public and private universities, out of a total of 87 Iraqi public and private universities. This represents a clear advancement compared to the previous year, when the university ranked 371st globally out of 1,476 universities.
