Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Mosul Technical Institute, Assistant Professor Shahla Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Qader, the Department of Computer Systems Technologies organized a scientific update entitled: “Transforming the Arabic printed text into speech” delivered by Mr. Abdel-Wahab Fathi Sharif.

The newcomer dealt with converting Arabic text into speech, which is one of the important areas that benefit a large segment of non-Arabic speaking people and others with visual impairment.

The newcomer came out with several recommendations, including:

1. Expanding the field to include other languages.
2. Expanding the field to include other local Arabic dialects.
