Visit of a ministerial committee from the university’s safety department

Ministerial Committee from the Department of Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Safety and Security Visits Northern Technical University to Evaluate Laboratories and Chemical Storage Facilities.

 

As part of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s ongoing efforts to enhance safety and security standards in educational laboratories, a specialized ministerial committee from the Department of Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Safety and Security conducted an official visit to Northern Technical University. The purpose of the visit was to evaluate scientific laboratories and chemical storage facilities across the university’s formations.

The committee was received by Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, President of the Northern Technical University, and Professor Dr. Omar Rafea Al-Omar, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, in the presence of Assistant Professor Dr. Sama Adnan Raouf, Head of the Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Safety and Security Division.

Dr. Al-Attar welcomed the committee and reaffirmed the university’s full support for efforts aimed at improving laboratory environments to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and technical staff.

The visit included field tours of several scientific laboratories and chemical storage units at the university’s colleges and institutes. The committee reviewed the implementation of safety and security procedures, mechanisms for chemical storage, and the extent to which practices align with ministerial guidelines and approved standards.

The committee expressed its appreciation for the clear organization and evident attention given to safety in the laboratories and storage areas, commending the efforts of the staff responsible for implementing safety systems and promoting ongoing awareness in this critical field.

This visit is part of a series of field inspections conducted by the Ministry to strengthen the safety and security framework in technical universities and institutes, contributing to the creation of a safe and advanced educational environment.
