The Master’s Thesis in Engineering Technology at the College of Engineering Technology/Mosul titled: “Effect of Combined Attack of Sulfates-Chlorides on Properties of Cement Mortar Containing Waste Materials” was discussed.
The thesis, presented by the researcher (Ahmed Mohammed Ali Mohammed), focused on the production of chemically resistant cement mortar. The research aims to produce mortar with chemical resistance properties and good mechanical properties by adding NANO materials and pozzolanic materials. The mixtures were evaluated after exposure to cycles of drying and wetting using a solution containing chlorides and sulfates. The best mixture was selected and used as a treatment mortar.
The thesis recommended the following:
Using different types of fibers with the mortar containing NANO silica and metakaolin.
Producing self-compacting mortar with the addition of metakaolin, NANO silica, and fibers to the mixtures.
Using different types of NANO materials with fly ash to produce self-compacting mortar for injection and repair of buildings.
The discussion was attended by the Dean of the College, Dr. Majid Khalil Najm, the vice-deans, several faculty members, and postgraduate students.
