On the occasion of the annual traffic week and in cooperation with the Kirkuk Traffic Directorate
Under the auspices of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Aashti Mahdi Aref (Dean of the Institute), the Follow-up Division and the Media and Public Relations Division, in cooperation with the Kirkuk Traffic Directorate, organized an awareness workshop entitled “Causes of Traffic Accidents and Measures to Prevent Them” on the occasion of the annual Traffic Week

The workshop aimed to:
Introducing traffic safety means taking all plans, programs, traffic regulations, and preventive measures to reduce or prevent traffic accidents to ensure people’s and their property’s safety and preserve the country’s security and its human and economic components.
The lecturer touched on the elements of traffic safety that depend on the human element, the road, and the vehicle, as well as directed some traffic advice to vehicle drivers, including the presence of a fire extinguisher in the car, the presence of the phosphorous triangle, fastening the seat belt, checking the tires of your car, leaving a sufficient distance between you and the other vehicle, Don’t get distracted behind the wheel, don’t speed, don’t cross a long line of cars quickly.
At the end of the workshop, the lecturers touched on the most important reasons that lead to traffic accidents, especially near educational institutions, including excessive speed and reckless driving, non-compliance with traffic lights, irregular overtaking, driving under the influence of drugs or narcotics and intoxicants, preoccupation while driving, and neglect of car maintenance in general. Periodically and using a mobile phone during the driving process.
