The President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, honored one of the university’s creative students, Omar Ahmed Hamza Al-Daghestani, fourth stage / Department of Building and Construction, evening study at the Technical Engineering College / Mosul. The student found a new theory called case 3 in the subject of zero forces in trusses and found a definition for it with examples and practical applications, as according to the source Structure Analysis, eighth edition, by its author, the scientist Professor Hubler, there are only two known cases, which are case 1 and case 2. He contacted the author, Professor Hubler, and attached the new case, case 3, with the definition and examples. His response was:
“Thank you for your comment regarding the zero force members. I will expand this section in the book a little to provide examples as you indicated. I wish you success in your professional life. Professor Hubler.”
After confirming the validity of his discovery of the third case by the author of the source, the scientist Hepler, he wrote a research on this topic and its importance in finding more members of zero force through drawing, which saves time, effort and focus on analyzing other members that carry forces and deepens the engineers’ understanding of zero force and sent it to the American Organization for Science and Research to ensure his ownership of intellectual rights in the event that his name is not mentioned by the author when expanding his book and adding the new discovered case 3. In light of the research submitted by him and sending Professor Hepler’s recognition of his efforts, the organization thanked him and presented me with a membership certificate as a researcher in the organization. Currently, he is waiting for approval to publish his research in ASCE Publishing House in the Journal of Structural Engineering, which is within the Scopus containers Q1 impact factor 3.7, with mention of his affiliation with the Department of Building and Construction at the Northern Technical University, Technical Engineering College / Mosul.
