Dr. Khalid Subhi Ahmad, an Asst. Prof. in the Department of Electronic and Communication Techniques at Mosul Technical Institute, has published two Q1-ranked scientific papers in esteemed international journals.

Paper 1: “Graphene-based frequency reconfigurable slot antenna for terahertz applications” (Optik, Cite Score: 6.9, Elsevier GmbH, April 17, 2025). This research, conducted in collaboration with researchers from UTeM, Malaysia, presents a dynamically frequency-selectable antenna utilizing graphene’s unique electrical properties. Covering 29 THz frequencies, it’s applicable to cognitive radio and medical imaging for enhanced skin and cancerous tissue identification through frequency switching.

Paper 2: “Compact frequency-reconfigurable slot patch antenna with gain enhancement via metasurface integration” (Optik, Cite Score: 6.9, Elsevier GmbH, May 5, 2025). This study, also involving UTeM researchers, introduces a novel antenna combining frequency selection flexibility with improved gain via a 2×2 metasurface array. Ideal for S and C bands and cognitive radio, the fabricated antenna demonstrated strong agreement between practical results and simulations.
