The department was established in the academic year 2022-2023 as the first engineering department specializing in chemical and petroleum engineering in the northern region. The department admitted 35 students in the first phase, with a good selection of students ranging from 75% to 95% of the preparatory school graduates in both scientific and applied branches. In the academic year 2023-2024, evening classes were also introduced, and the department admitted more than 50 students with percentages ranging from 85% to 98%. As for the number of students in the morning classes for this academic year 2023-2024, 111 students were accepted.
