Dr. Alyaa Abbas Ali Al-Attar, the President of Northern Technical University, officially opened the English Language Center, including the (IELTS) testing facility, at the College of Engineering in Kirkuk. This initiative is part of the university’s efforts to achieve international standards and comply with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the University’s Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, the Director of the Quality Assurance and Academic Performance Department, as well as several deans from various university departments in Kirkuk. Dr. Montaser Eid Sherif, Head of the Department of Electronic and Control Engineering and the supervisor of the center, provided a brief explanation of the laboratory and the examination process.

The actual IELTS exams are scheduled to commence at the beginning of February, while a pilot exam will be held next week. It’s worth noting that choosing IELTS is a prerequisite for applying to postgraduate studies in Iraq, especially in medical, engineering, and scientific disciplines, as mandated by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
