A delegation from the “Tawasul” project, funded by the Government of Canada, visited the Northern Technical University to strengthen academic cooperation and advance student skill development.
The delegation was received by the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, accompanied by several department directors. During the meeting, the two sides discussed mechanisms for leveraging the advanced expertise of Canadian universities in enhancing student competencies and aligning them with labor market demands—particularly in the fields of technology incubators, innovation centers, and institutional excellence.
The discussions further addressed prospects for designing joint training programs aimed at preparing graduates equipped with the technical and professional skills required in both the public and private sectors.
As part of the visit, a Letter of Intent was signed between the Northern Technical University and the Tawasul Project to reinforce cooperation with accredited Canadian universities and institutions. The agreement seeks to support the development of trainers and staff, strengthen their capabilities in innovation and entrepreneurship, and enhance technical training outcomes.
The meetings also emphasized the importance of establishing an integrated graduate database to facilitate follow-up, communication, and access to training and employment opportunities through joint professional platforms. Additionally, the project’s role in supporting the university in building a sustainable professional development system was highlighted, along with its contribution to establishing future partnerships that increase graduate employability and fortify the university’s linkages with both local and international labor markets.
This visit forms part of a broader series of initiatives aimed at expanding the university’s international cooperation and reinforcing its mission in empowering students and enhancing their skills in accordance with global standards.
