The activities of the capacity building course in the field of mediation continued on Wednesday and Thursday, December 6-7, which was held by the Francophone University Agency (AUF) in the Middle East – Saint Joseph University in Lebanon, in cooperation with the Francophone Corner Unit in the Department of Missions and Cultural Relations at the Northern Technical University, and via virtual reality. During the first and second days of the course, the lectures covered important topics in the field of mediation, including:
Mediation Basics: In this lecture, an overview of mediation as a peaceful method of conflict resolution is provided, and the basic steps of the mediation process are discussed.
Mediation skills: In this lecture, training was given on the basic skills that a mediator needs, such as: effective listening, time management, and building trust.
Mediation ethics: In this lecture, the ethical standards that the mediator must adhere to were discussed, such as: neutrality, confidentiality, and objectivity.
More than 30 professors and associates from various groups of university members participated in this course, who expressed their great interest in the course and their keenness to acquire these important skills in mediation. The course aims to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills in capacity building and mediation in conflicts, in order to contribute to spreading a culture of tolerance and resolving various conflicts peacefully.
It is noteworthy that the course lasts for two weeks, and includes various practical lectures and workshops.
