Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, and under the guidance of the Dean of the Agricultural Technical College, Prof. Dr. Shihab Ahmed Al-Bajari, the Department of Plant Production Techniques organized a scientific seminar titled “The Role of Legume Crops in Soil Fertility.”

• Seminar Focus:
The seminar highlighted the importance of cultivating legume crops and their vital role in enhancing soil fertility through the biological fixation of atmospheric nitrogen by rhizobium bacteria. This natural process contributes to reducing the use of chemical fertilizers and supports sustainable agricultural environments.

• Recommendations:
The seminar concluded with several key recommendations, including:

• The necessity of expanding the cultivation of legume crops within sustainable agriculture programs.

• Encouraging farmers to include legumes in crop rotation systems to improve soil properties.

• Supporting applied research aimed at increasing the productivity of these crops and enhancing nitrogen fixation efficiency.

A number of faculty members and staff from the Agricultural Technical College–Mosul participated in the seminar.
