Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, President of the Northern Technical University, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Shihab Ahmed Al-Bajary, Dean of the Agricultural Technical College, the Department of Plant Production Techniques organized a scientific training course entitled:
“Design and Analysis of Agricultural Experiments Using the SAS System.”

The course was delivered by:

The course included both theoretical and practical sessions, covering the fundamental concepts of experimental design and statistical analysis in agriculture. It aimed to enhance the participants’ skills in selecting appropriate experimental designs such as Completely Randomized Design (CRD), Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD), Split-Plot Design, and the Latin Square Design.
Participants also received hands-on training on using the SAS software for data entry, analysis, and interpretation of agricultural experiments.

Key recommendations of the course included:

1. Providing participants with basic concepts of experimental design and statistical analysis.

2. Developing researchers’ and students’ abilities to apply suitable experimental designs in agricultural studies.

3. Differentiating between various types of experimental designs.

4. Enabling participants to use statistical software for accurate data analysis and interpretation.

5. Applying multiple comparison tests such as Duncan’s and LSD to determine significant differences among means.

6. Enhancing skills in writing scientific reports and presenting results in a systematic and academic manner.

A number of faculty members and staff of the Agricultural Technical College – Mosul participated in the course, emphasizing its importance in strengthening research and statistical capabilities in the field of agricultural sciences.
