2025-10-16Medical Devices Dept. Head Joins Master’s Thesis Discussion at Technical Engineering College – Mosul
Dr. Sinan Salim Mohammed Sheet, Head of the Medical Device Techniques Department at the Mosul Polytechnic College, participate as a member of the thesis committee in the specialization of Medical Device Engineering Techniques. The defense took place at the College of Engineering Technology – Mosul.
The thesis, entitled: “Investigation on the Performance and Application of LoRa Wireless Network for Telemedicine Purposes” was presented by the researcher Abdulrahman Yasir Adel.
The thesis explored the feasibility of employing LoRa technology to transmit patients’ vital signs in critical conditions with low latency and limited power consumption, thus enabling its use in areas lacking traditional communication infrastructure.
The study adopted a hybrid methodology, combining simulation using LoRaSim and Python with field experiments utilizing the Dragino LoRaWAN Kit V3 and the MAX30100 sensor. This approach was used to investigate the impact of factors such as propagation, distance, and transmission rate on performance indicators including latency, packet delivery ratio, signal quality, and power consumption.
The objective of the thesis was to analyze the performance of LoRa networks in low-data telemedicine applications by evaluating various performance metrics and proposing mechanisms to enhance communication efficiency within smart healthcare systems.
