The Technical Research Center at Northern Technical University recently marked World Arabic Language Day with a symposium titled “Language of Ḍād: My Identity.” Held on December 19th, the event was a collaborative effort with the Women’s Affairs Unit, Al-Nukhba Private School, and the Future Makers Team.

The symposium featured a lecture by Mr. Walid Saeed Ahmed, an instructor from the University of Mosul, who highlighted the significance, history, and richness of the Arabic language, emphasizing its unique status as the language of the Holy Quran. Students from Al-Nukhba Private School showcased their talents through captivating poetry recitations. Furthermore, an exhibition and bazaar displayed a delightful array of books, calligraphy, paintings, and handmade crafts.

The event was well-attended by staff members from both the Technical Research Center and Northern Technical University.

Key recommendations from the symposium include fostering pride in Modern Standard Arabic, encouraging children to embrace the language through speaking and reading, and nurturing their talents in poetry, public speaking, and writing.

This initiative aligns perfectly with the directive from the Women’s Affairs Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to celebrate World Arabic Language Day, which is observed annually on December 18th. By recognizing the vital role of Arabic in culture, arts, and innovation, such events underscore the commitment of academic institutions to preserving and promoting this rich and significant language.
