The Agricultural Technical College-Mosul organizes an awareness seminar on drugs and their psychological damage to the individual and society.

Under the patronage of the president of the northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Attar, and under the supervision of the dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Shihab Ahmed Al-Bajari, the information and Government Communication Division was organized in cooperation with the information and Government Communication Department at the presidency of the northern Technical University, the follow-up division and the psychological counseling and educational guidance unit
In coordination with the Ibn Sina Teaching Hospital and the community police, an awareness seminar entitled (Drugs and their psychological damage to the individual and society )
In the presence of the dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, professor Dr. Shihab Ahmed Al-Bajari،
Dr. Saad Ali al-Khattabi is the director general of Ibn Sina Teaching Hospital.

• The seminar dealt with:
A detailed explanation of the harms of drugs and Psychotropic Substances on the individual and society, as well as the definition of drugs, which are substances that affect the mind and body and cause changes in the psychological state and bodily functions. Drugs include some substances that lead to addiction, which makes a person unable to stop using them despite the damage that may be inflicted on him, and drugs vary between legal substances such as alcohol and tobacco, and illegal substances such as heroin and cocaine.

* The seminar came up with several recommendations, the most important of which are:
1. Promote awareness and education should also be intensified about the dangers of drugs to the individual and society in schools, universities, and community centers.
2. Organizing seminars and workshops to communicate accurate information about the harms of drugs and their health and psychological effects.
3. Providing treatment, psychological support and medical treatment for addicts, whether through therapeutic programs or psychological counseling.
4. Establishing specialized centers in the treatment of addiction and providing rehabilitation programs for individuals recovering from addiction.
5. Emphasize the enforcement of strict laws against drug dealers and strengthen deterrent penalties to reduce the spread of drugs.
6.Improve coordination between the security and justice agencies to combat drug trafficking.
7. Encourage and support sports, artistic and cultural activities that contribute to investing youth’s time positively.
8. Stimulate participation in community activities that strengthen social bonds and keep individuals away from risks.
9. Raising families ‘ awareness of the dangers of drugs and the importance of their role in monitoring their children’s behavior and promoting positive values within the family.
10. Support regional and international programs aimed at reducing drug trafficking and providing support to countries suffering from drug proliferation.
11. Providing comprehensive and preventive health care, especially for areas with a high incidence of drug abuse
And support scientific research and studies that focus on the impact of drugs on public health and society.
