Northern Technical University – Technical Administrative College/Mosul Organizes a Training Course Entitled (Sustainability Fundamentals – Building a Better Future for All)

Under the patronage of the President of Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar,
and under the supervision of the Dean of the Technical Administrative College/Mosul, Asst. Prof. Dr. Raafat Assi Hussein,

and within the activities of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department and the Quality Assurance Division in cooperation with the Department of Business Management Techniques,
a training course titled “Sustainability Fundamentals – Building a Better Future for All” was organized, led by Lecturer Mohammed Najeeb Al-Banna and coordinated by Asst. Lecturer Safaa Saleh Fathi, with the participation of a number of faculty and staff members.

Sustainable development is considered one of the most significant global concepts in modern development strategies, aiming to balance economic growth, social well-being, and environmental protection. It is based on meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs—through responsible resource management, justice, and ensuring a long-term quality of life.

The importance of this course lies in enhancing institutional awareness of sustainability principles and integrating them into the technical and administrative educational environment, contributing to improved institutional practices and elevating performance in line with approved quality standards.

The course covered the following key topics:

  • Introduction to sustainable development and its three main pillars (economic, social, environmental).

  • The role of clean energy and the green economy in supporting modern development strategies.

  • The relationship between sustainability and achieving institutional quality in technical education.

  • The role of academic institutions in promoting a culture of sustainability and building environmental and social awareness.

  • Challenges facing sustainable development and ways to overcome them within educational and productive institutions.

Course objectives:

The course aimed to empower participants to:

  • Understand the fundamental concepts of sustainable development and their applications in modern management.

  • Integrate sustainability principles into curricula and academic research activities.

  • Promote strategic thinking toward efficient resource management and long-term quality improvement.

  • Support green economy initiatives within the college and the wider community.

At the conclusion of the course, the organizers emphasized the importance of transforming sustainability concepts from theoretical frameworks into practical applications within institutions, in support of the Northern Technical University’s vision to enhance quality, excellence, and comprehensive development that serves society.
