NTU Overview
The UNESCO Chair in Heritage Preservation and Reconstruction of Mosul City aims to address the urgent need for heritage conservation and rebuilding in a city renowned for its rich cultural history. Spearheaded by Northern Technical University (NTU), in partnership with an esteemed international university, this initiative seeks to revitalize Mosul Old City through a multifaceted approach that blends education, community engagement, and practical restoration work. This effort builds on the momentum of UNESCO’s successful “Revive the Spirit of Mosul” project, focusing on sustainable, locally driven preservation. The primary objectives are to enhance the technical skills of local stakeholders, create jobs, and restore cultural heritage sites. To achieve these goals, NTU will introduce a new minor degree program in conservation and preservation, developed in collaboration with its international partner. This program aims to train a new generation of professionals equipped to lead future preservation projects.
